olive oil secrets
Extra-virgin olive oil is a ubiquitous ingredient in Italian recipes, religious rituals and beauty products. But many of the bottles labeled “extra-virgin olive oil” on supermarket shelves have been adulterated and shouldn’t be classified as extra-virgin, says New Yorker contributor Tom Mueller. via npr.org Olive oil is one of the real staples of our cooking, so very...

my batman
Back in the early summer of 1989 I happened upon my first Batman comic, issue #602 of Detective Comics, in a small grocery store in Hutchinson, Kansas. As a result my Batman became and will always be the Grant/Breyfogle Batman. The dynamism of the artwork and the depth of the writing solidified the idea of Batman into a living breathing character. Abuse Your Noodle
Heard an interesting report on NPR this morning about how instant ramen cups lead to a lot of horrible burns by tipping over easily, especially with children. The part I really wanted to note down for future writing reference was the reason ramen burns are so much worse than other soup or hot liquid burns. Apparently the noodles, which hold in the heat, stick to the skin, intensifying the burn....

Hello Future World
Back when I was single, maintaining a self hosted blog as my digital hub was easy. Now I have a life though and less time to fiddle with updates and plugins. So a new digital hub, hosted on posterous.com with bits being piped to anywhere I want and no worrying about the back end. If you want to see it directly, it’s at cloudmachine.us. As with the old setup though, anything I post should...
